The ValueExchange Foreword

Legacy technology is one of the central themes of our time. We've never seen so much market disruption, so much customer change and so many new technologies all present themselves at the same time or create so much pressure on our operating systems.

So why then do we talk so little about it? Whilst T+1, CSDR, crypto and other buzzwords steal the headlines, LegacyTech continues to be discussed only in the context of how we react to each change, each time.

This campaign is designed to change that, by bringing the LegacyTech theme to the fore. Working with IHS Markit (now part of S&P Global), Digital Asset and the Network Forum, we have gathered feedback from industry specialists across the globe, helping us to shape a new narrative around the transformative power of well-managed Legacy technology within our firms.

This handbook explains that narrative in full - where the LegacyTech hotspots are in our industry today, why those hotspots are a problem, where we are seeing transformation and what that transformation journey looks like.

Based on our research, LegacyTech is today more than just a question mark - it is an ongoing discipline that has the power to separate leaders and followers in your market. We hope that these insights can help you to advance and optimise the way you manage your own legacy platforms today, leveraging the significant amount of best practice that we have across our industry today.

We are extremely grateful for the support of IHS Markit (now part of S&P Global, lead sponsors of this research), Digital Asset and The Network Forum - and of all of the experts who have shared their perspectives with us over the last few months.

Most of all we hope that this is just the beginning of the discussion and please do feel free to reach out to us if you would like to dig further into the statistics or insights in this report. We'd love to hear from you.
